Hillary and Dale joined Jill and me for an early morning ski. Doug stopped by in the parking area, and it was great to see him after all these years. The lifts started before 9am. The scarcest part of the trip was walking on the ice in the parking lot. Hillary had knee surgery early last year and it was her first day on skis this season. She and Dale were skiing fast with their backcountry equipment, and I was watching them. I’m waiting for the day they start breaking trail for Jill and me. We ran into Doug on the slopes, and I watched him ski fast and in control. This was day #6 with 7 runs and 7000vf. The temperature was around 30 degrees, but the powder days were gone from earlier this week. I was skiing slower because the snow was firmer, but the air felt cooler. We stopped at 10:15am as the lift lines grew and my legs were done. It was time for lunch!

Great to see you on the slopes today Zap. You look well and seemed to be having a good time with Jill and friends.
I am in a sort of recovery myself having gained a lot of weight and lost fitness over that past few years. I told my ski partner David to think of me as "old grand dad" in an attempt to set the tone for today's exertions. It all worked out pretty well with no injuries or biffs.
It was also my first day on new ski-- Atomic Blackeye Ti-- they are pretty burly and fast, so it was a challenge keeping them reigned in. Feels like starting over, but my favorite way to get exercise.
See you and Jill on the slopes again soon!
