Crystal - 12/12/12

Late wordy report. Pretty nice day all in all, lots of fun (except with putting up the X-Mass lights the last couple of hours in the rain). Arrived to a nice sized free A lot – but the pay lot was pretty big, seems like the pay folks made some fair effort filling it by the time we left at 2:15. Looked like a fogy grey day early, but vis was mostly good most of the time – somewhere. Nice smooth looking slopes early with the new and the groomers that we did were very nice ( IceFerkBerg – fast and smooth with a new layer of snow on it). Putzed around being kinda wimpy early, but every runs pushing the bounds of the conditions proved better and better. Have I mentioned that I really like my “NEW” skis! AfterShocks! Was very happy again today how they carved the variable snow conditions. What was good? ElkSort Bowl, Grubstake, Anns Run, IceFerkBerk (for the groomer run), M-World all the way to the Doors (#1) – fun, some nice runs in BearPits, PB was good but variable on the vis, Campbell Basin only one run but with better vis would have been very doably happy. Snow conditions? Still firm layer under the new in places, other places so deep you really did not know what was under the pow. Did Kelly’s Gap to Lower E – pretty fun. Finished the day with Gondy Line!!! Lots of untracked new, steep and surprisingly good – Thanks CD for that one. Definitely variable conditions, but lots of fun to be had, heard happy comments about FQex runs early. Soup was Roasted Tomato Ancho – Spouse #1 said it was too spicy for her. Pay lot made a showing on HHWW and there was a little over flow into B and the top of C. Never noticed a lift line. No Northway today and today was advertised as full operation and full price? Okay by me. Ready for more tomorrow.

Campbell was excellent with untracked 4-6 inch fresh everywhere with a touch of zipper crust in places but not grabby. Finished in Silver basin which was awesome. Most of the day saw no one else around. Great skiing.
