Crystal - 12/06

Very nice day with better and better conditions all day, the light early day snow fall increased to a flat out dump during the afternoon, everything was getting nicer, tomorrow will be big! Light crowd, no lift lines, very firm on some slopes early, Valley Bowl still nice, IceFerkberg was groomed and smooth and fast early. Northway opened pretty early and I let CD drag me out there for some very nice runs in Paradise and Bruce’s bowl – after a number of fun runs and long chair rides we headed back to check out the rest of the mountain. A couple of nice PB runs with a soup check in the middle – Black Bean (?). Could have done PB a lot more, but it was just cold enough to send up back to mine GV and REX. Lots of Grubstake, Old Chair 3, Elksnort runs with Bearpits and front side of REX from Memorial to Door 1. Firm and chunky in places, nice and smooth in others and getting better all the time with the big dumpage snowfall! Snowing hard when we left. Pretty nice day – it made CD change his plans for tomorrow. A lot kinda full with some over flow into C and B.

DDK all this looking to the future ,and then making grandiose extrapolations, is in fact nothing but pure conjecture.Everyone knows,you can't ski on conjecture. In the future I think these posts should limit themselves to the facts on hand.For example,how exactly was that black bean soup , your description of that, left a little too much to the imagination. No one has a crystal ball ddk, not even you.Tomorrows conditions are as unknown as what will happen after December 21st,and to attempt to decipher these future events, well that's a little crazy

Sorry didn’t have time enough to test the Black Bean soup - thought my task was to report what the soup was not taste test every one of them...as far as the future, I truly agree with you, its all conjecture based only on my never ending optimism and low pleasure threshold and how nice it was looking when I left and how much fun I was having and unless the rumored magnetic pole flip happens or a big unexpected solar storm blows up and hits the earth with a direct hit (on Dec 21st)....I'd hazard to guess that tomorrow will be big - at least for me.....I'll try to restrain my future posts to only my perception of how things were and how much fun I was having and how many rocks I dinged (none today) - so your goona have to accept my reports with a grain of salt (or break as some folks would say).

Darn sorry to miss you ddk, but we both were too busy farming the goodness I suspect. Wow, I just received some lift ski boots, each one weighs what a pair of TLT5P does, but man they make driving a ski easy. Maybe I found the cure for old age, lifts and big boots and skis!

Nice day, and in the forecasting department, I think tomorrow will be too crowded for me. Time to return to skinning, that lift ski gear is like a drug, might become addictive. Thank you Boyne Mountain management for the kind ticket price for non-Crystal pass holders.

Nice to meet you on the lift, ddk. I think your friend was amused to find that someone knows about the soup guy.
