Very nice day, big sun, big skiing (per Mr. Scotsman), big spring/winter conditions – PB firm packed snow and the front side of REX spring slush mid day. I really like that combination, early morning PB repeats on nice winter snow with no one around, then spend the rest of the day with a few REX slush runs and back to PB for more winter snow - repeat. That was pretty much my Hamster/Hopper/Squirrel kind of day. PB to IceFerkBerg with GV Bowl thrown in was it. GV Bowl was very nice and soft and smooth. IceFerkBerg has growing bumps and the rocks are showing up – but in the afternoon it was nice and spring like soft. Top of HC requires some side stepping, but once into PB it is pretty nice. CB side to the Throne was open today, but it looked pretty nasty lumpy and not worth the try. Biggest crowd of the season made for almost crowding on REX and at some point during the day a line on FQex. CB Lodge was packed at Noon when I passed through to check out the soup – Ched Broc again, but got a promise of Chick Noodle for tomorrow. Noticed they have Udon bowls this season, that might be good – I really like them up at Whistler. Snow guns blowing at the bottom and the ski out was a lot better than yesterday. The sun and views were really big! All the way to Hood. If you cant have new deep soft snow….today was a good second best. Lookin forward to a repeat tomorrow. Pay lot pretty normal(ly) not full, B actually full to the shuttle stop, C pretty full. So Crystal should be happy with a nice spendy crowd today.

An unexpected sun-softened Frontside won the day. Green Valley Bowl excellent from the start but icy and/or ice cube covered groomers made getting around un-fun. We wore Grubstake down to the ice by sucking a crowd of people onto the run. Expecting the worst, we ventured onto the Frontside. It was awesome and skied it most of the day. Followed ddk to Powder Bowl – great snow in the Bowl if you stayed to the skied out line, but I walked through the rocks on top and was unimpressed by the long roundabout down Luckyshot. Sunnyside and Showtime kept us entertained till 1:00 when the low altitude sun petered out and the recrunch started. The troughs are wearing thin and a couple days of 8-10K FL will finish it off if there is any participation the next 2 days (count me in). Best visual of the day, an unusual airborne ddk mid Sunnyside.

I had a lot fun today! Big Big fun!
Tried to go BC backside ( West aspect) but it was breakable crust and I skinned out only 1/3 down.
Had a report that somebody had good BC conditions skiing down to Crystal Lakes which surprised me but makes sense as those slopes are in the sun all day and that probably softened the rain crust.
Big fun....lotta fast fast skiing and I never stopped for soup!
I have to admit I've become envious of ddk's fanny pack! I need to get me one!
