July 13-15 PSIA GS Race-Camp on Mt. Hood was created by RandoneeRon
Great clinic put on by PSIA-NW!  Met a few other Alpental instructors up there as well. General format for the days - 6:45AM check-in, 7-8AM warm-up, 8AM-1PM bashing gates, 1-2PM Beer, 2-2:30PM reviewing videos, 3-?? drink more beer. Great weather all three days, early mornings both upper mountain and much of the terrain from the bottom of Palmer into the lodge was nice and firm. Later in the day - lower mountain turned pretty mushy.  First two days, our lanes were on the lower mountain, nice during the mornings, course stayed nice and firm with the salting and resets, from the race course to the lift - a lot of melt out, bare patches, and soft mushy snow.  Second day, great for most of the day, but saw the lenticular cloud form at about 11AM, and some dark clouds moved in around 1PM with some rain. Last day, foggy at the bottom but bluebird conditions from the bottom of Palmer, but strong winds all day kept things cold.  Broke out the new Doberman GS 186s and finally had a lane on the Palmer - what a BLAST, firm and fast. Top speed 43mph, total vert for weekend 45,982ft.  All in all - some great skiing in mid July!

Ron, Great trip with speed and the group.  I skied a PSIA-NW back in 2009 and had a great group. Good days at Timberline.  ;)
