Crystal - 07/01/12 Its a Wrap!

Got the first day and the last day - 110 of 174 total this season for me - ouch. Had fun today though it looked kinda damp and foggy early (and a little misty wet also for the first run or two), but it all got nice and dry and pretty much sunny enough to bring out the bikini tops and shorts! Bumped into Scotsman and finally met the incredibly infamous PNW BRIT (actually seemed pretty mellow and very nice – It was nice to finally be introduced!). Snow was very pink and dirty and slow early. Had to hike (20 feet) up towards the top after getting off GV (unless you could air out the dirt patch heading towards Grubstake), kinda like the end last season. Lots of dirt and stuff showing, had to pay attention where you went or it was dirt walkin. Pretty good crowd after the first hour, usually a cluster of folks at the bottom of GV, so lots of opp’s for riding and talking with folks on the lift – didn’t hear any complaints about having to suffer the 1st of July on the slopes – Yee Haa! Woo Hoo! Stayed longer than I expected – was sort of fogging up around 2pm, but I’m sure it was still in and out on the vis till the end. Sat around at the bottom on a nice sunny deck, with lots of flower baskets. Very nice end to the season. Okay I think I can truly let go now and enjoy the summer/fall season waiting for opening day of the 2012/2013 season (hopefully we will still be around on the 22nd of December!) Have a great summer. PS – Also heard Saturday was great with probably a smaller crowd and also lots of nice conditions the last couple of weekends – dang I missed all those days. Nice skiing a lap with you ddk. Don't be fooled by PNWBrit( banned)'s good behavior, he was wearing his shock collar and I have a button on the top of my ski pole that I press if he starts getting sarcastic.

We went walkabouts out north after a few GV runs. Lotta snow and lines for the plucking out there still.

A good way to close out the lift season, that was 103 for me.

" what does closed actually mean"..... ski patrol gave me the official lecture...but she was pretty cool.

I was thinking up taking the Gondola up Wednesday (the 4th) and touring toward south back. Any sense of whether that will be worth it/should I bother? Thanks!

Southback is still good..the King, Silver basin, 3way etc but it's a fairly convoluted hike from the gondola station.
Northback is easier to get to from the Gondi station and is full of skiable lines that Brit and I skied yesterday.
Paradise Bowl , Bruce's bowl and Northway bowl are full of nice smooooth snow.
We found booting out best.
Kempers is also looking pretty nice
