Late report - Pretty nice day all in all – whats new with that? Started big and sunny early, got first bucket ride up and a lot of early morning smooth soft sweat untracked snow – only problem was there were a few other folks having fun cutting up all that nice smooth sweet soft snow. Coverage today was still better than lots of nasty mid winter seasons we have had – and a whole bunch better than opening day this season! Crowd early was pretty light, but there was that 10:30 rush when the lazy folks showed up and the crowd of walkers at the top of the Gondy was busy mid day to when I left at 2:30. Got cooler and cloudier around 11am or so, never took my vest off today, less sun than what little I expected, but it probably kept the snow better. Valley very nice today, frontside REX even better for those folks that like big slow dropping bumps and mucky soft slush conditions. Best runs of the day were Ferd and my last two runs down the main line slot in Bearpits (did it early in the day and there was a lot of sliding lumps) but late in the day it had been skied out enough to be very fun dropping big. Day got greyer and cloudier and there was a little hail dropping from the sky early afternoon and got to admit there was a pretty good wet shower around 2:45 – spent that time standing in the woods watching it. No real lift lines all day. Lots of fun talking to the other jazzed folks on the slopes, had some fun runs with Mr and Mrs Ferk. They had some really big slides caused by the patrol down the middle and skier left side of Powder Bowl – pretty impressive and glad not to be in them. Noticed slides out south on lots of the Peaks. Still managed to ski out to the base thanks to the groomer slot at the end of the day. Only neg I can say was the elitists menu and setup at the top restaurant – passed through it just to look – nice out door seating for the big buck folks and a menu that looked like main season….Sorry for the long report, but it was another great Saturday. A lot full, B and C had some cars in them. Sounds like the spouse wants to go tomorrow – hope I can suffer another day!
