Crystal May 6th.
Scenario.
Lucky shot closed for avy control @ powder bowl= therefore everybody skiing down iceberg or ferberg or whatever you want to call it.....probably, just  a guess, 50 people on the run at the same time......rippers ripping but also a very high contingent of gapers who couldn't get down lucky shot.. big moguls.....gapers crashing and sliding, skis everywhere.

None of this is remarkable but in the middle of this was a guy, ski poles in hand, no skis I could see, cramponing straight up iceberg as the carnage reigned around him.
I think he had gaiters on as well.

I skied past him in awe as his stupidity had reached such a sublime level, it could only be admired.

I think he was training!

It was one of you guys wasn't it..........come on admit it! ;)

I've skinned up at Crystal plenty of times when the lifts are running after checking in with ski patrol -- the usual route is along the eastern edge of "quicksilver" and it is more stylish to start early enough to pass the top station of chair four before too many lift skiers are out.

A hard check right above him and solid spray of snow in the face might have given him a hint -- but why be mean?
