Pretty nice day, jumped into the first empty bucket with Dean for a nice spacious ride to the top around 8:35 after listening to many bomb blasts on the upper mountain – first clue about conditions was upper E that had a pretty big bolder slide skier right side, did not look to good. Jumped into a perfectly smooth Door (2ish?), I struggled with the either not firm enough/or soft enough snow under the new on the first run. But all was better on the next run and the rest of my short day. Heard about epic runs down upper Bull early when it first opened – did it a little later, uncut areas still nice but most of it was fairly challenging for the other folks I was with. Wide skis were the thing to have today. Lots of early morning blasting on the Queen kept LS closed for a while. Boulder slides in lots of unusual places – all across the bottom of Showtime REX chair line, parts of lower Sunnyside, PB center and in Bearpits (which I don’t think was open – but I never actually tried to go there. Lucky Trees nice and smooth early morning. Very light crowd but it was a pretty efficient crowd for cutting up the slopes. Valley Bowl was pretty nice, just firm enough under the new. No lift lines today as usual. Some sun, some fog, some in and out vis conditions. Soups – Cheddar “Broccoli” and Smoked Gouda. A lot full with overflow into C and B. Lots of Sombreros on the slopes today. Fun day as usual. Off to Blackcomb for the next couple of days.
