April 29th 2012 - Alpental was created by Randito
A better than I hoped for day. Snow was soft on top, but firm enough underneath. Moguls on Nash and Edelwiess bowl getting larger, but skied well. High clouds kept snow surface cosistent throughout the day -- did not become slurpy snow. Both Nash and Elevator gate openned, but stayed inbounds after sampling sticky snow on untracked lines on Gunmount. Shot Six closed and right side of lower Nash roped off.
There was a "longboard day" celebration with folks riding on long thin and brighly colored skis from the '80s. Many folks were also skiing in "period" outfits -- brightly colored jumpsuits -- as well as one guy in a santa suit, a guy dressed as a bar wench and couple in evening attire -- with the woman wearing a classic "little black dress" -- though they were on "snowblades" not long boards.

Sneak peek:
Looked like a good time. Despite my best attempts, I failed to egg anyone into doing a keg stand in Lot 4. I did, however, find a PBR which had melted out of the snow @ Piss Pass. That gave me enough energy to boot up and over into Pineapple and take a lap through Great Scott before calling it quits. Snow was slow but clean, holes everywhere, and free base grinds in Rock Face and Meadows. As for Trash Can, don't go there. Unless you like chasing waterfalls and collapsing snow bridges.
Saw a chunk of cornice come down in the afternoon which spooked us back in bounds for the remainder of the day. Bumps on Nash were tasty and line through Felsen is fun. This coming from a one-planker...

It was a fun day - good to see you up there, Randy. We were happily surprised by the conditions. Upper I to Felsen was our favorite line for the day - was able to mostly avoid small sharp moguls there. We took one trip on the near "backcountry" over the knolls and down into Snake Dance - was kind of fun in a slow-motion-slush-turns sort of way, but only worth one trip. There were a fair number of cars in the lots, but no lift lines. It was like a private ski club.

Snow conditions were very good Sunday.
Tight right on Nash, to tight left of Adrenalin, on to Elevator and, or Gun Barrel, both of which were very good.
Evidence, that a significant number of people were skiing both zones repeatedly on 210cm >.
