Crystal - 04/21

Really big day, really big sun, really big soft snow pretty early in places and really really big soft by 10am on Sunnyside (where were you JD?). Great day. Small “ski season is over” crowd, no real lift lines, even the 10:30 rush never really showed up. Main ski lines today were 30 feet either side of REX chair line! Though other places with the deep soft muck were also nice – but a little more work. Snow got sticky slow off the main skied lines late in places, gonna have to was again tonight. Saw some really nice tracks in PB from those that hiked. Big boulder field of avie debris below Rock Face – pretty impressive. Fun day, got one more tomorrow that should be just as good. Didn’t see a lot of the regulars. Soups of the day were Mushroom and the big long named one that has Smoked Gouda in it. Coombas were happy again today. A lot full (no wasted pay space anymore), C maybe 2/3rds and B maybe a quarter. Yee Haa….

Chased 4-5" of sloppy new over a firm base in the morning. As the underlayment turned to over-the-boot slop, the skied-out lines took over. I was surprised how unconsolidated the snow became as the temps climbed. Off the beaten paths midday, my pole went in 2 feet. On the skied-out lines, actually line – Rex Chairline, slush flingin' fun in the sun.

Lots of heat-sluff slides. Rock Face has slid down to the rock base. In the afternoon, lots of movement as the snow softened.

Limited but awesome today and the crowd was diggin' it.
