Very nice last day of winter ski season at Crystal, big blue skies, lots of sun, great mucky slush after around 10:30, nice early fast groomers – The Plunge nice from the start today, HC chair line either right or left great steep soft conditions – had to do both sides a lot of hamster times. Front side of REX great all afternoon – fast and soft and easy. Fairly light crowd – no real lift lines. Many different types of soups in CB lodge as the day progressed – early lunch CCC and Vegy Barley, passed through later and it was CCC and Tomato Bisque and I seem to remember some other soup during a late pass through the lodge. Big sad part about today was watching the patrol take down all the ropes and bamboo from Campbell Basin – today was the last day for Chair 6 (at least with out hiking), so very sad, it kept me up hamstring chair line during the afternoon till almost closing. Finished the day right down to the wire on REX. Big social on the deck at the base, everyone talking about the great last weekend of the winter season. Parking lots were pretty empty by the time we left, but it looked like there were cars in a lot of the lots. Its been a great season so far. Definitely got a lot of hamster runs in during the last four days.

Actually, tax day is tuesday, 4/17... But we digress

The snow has consolidated perfectly in the last couple days. Go anywhere softness after 10:30. Early morning frozen-ness wasn't good, even on the groomers. Later, anything getting even filtered sun was awesome – without any of the slop that was outside the skied lines a couple days ago. With a very weather dependent 2 or 3 days to choose from as Crystal closes mid-week, skied today like it might be my last before heading to the summer playground in a month. Rewarded in the best way by today's conditions.

Crack O'noon ( Actually 10:30)start for me. Joe and I deposited our significant others with their posse of ski chickas and then hightailed it to the SB intending to go Bc to Crystal Lakes. Snow was hard due to a malignant cloud that was blocking the sun so we quickly traversed over to JBAS and boot-packed to the ridge and had perfect ripe corn( and I mean perfect!!!) down into Morse Creek. From there we skinned up to Sourdough Gap. Climbed the ridge above the gap for a ways. Joe went much higher and skied what he calls the Morse Headwall. Nice.

From there , down and across the valley and a hot skin back up to JBAS( somebody had ridden a snowmobile right up Cannonball..we could see the tracks....we both thought that pretty impressive). By that time the NW facing slopes of Dave's Delight had softened for another nice corn run down to FFForest.
All about aspects today and getting the timing right.

We reached the top of Quicksilver by 3.20 and raced down to get the last gondi.
Skied down serious glop on Upper Bull to Snakedance and rejoined our beautiful women on the patio.
What a day....... what a season. Crystal rocks!
