Last years Last Fridy at Stevens was a full on powder day. This year's Last Friday was a more typical for the season full on spring day. Strong sun no wind. Not quite shirt sleeves in the AM but I'm sure it was by the later PM. Excellent views with the small amt of new making things more scenically whitish. Not many people.

A change over from rain to snow later in the day Thursday had left a little skim of very wet new, and the rain in general might have smoothed things on a macro scale. However on a smaller scale there were chunks and things that needed avoiding at least earlier in the morning. These especially prevalent on slopes South and steep enough to sunroll.

Groomers on backside were awesome right from the start. Off the groomers the top layer very sticky, and those chunks to avoid in spots. But there were some gems there, little traveled. Aquarius Face particularly nice. High suction in snow called for aggressive fall line. Was on a snowboard today, felt like the right tool for dealing with the occasional bottom-falls-out iso spots in the snow.

Noon was around time to switch from back to front but that was also about the time I had to leave. They hadn't started digging the plaza pit yet (it looks to be in place now). Hope to attend the fest on Sunday, all signs point to that being a crazy warm spring slop bonanza.
