Another wordy long winded report - basic content - great conditions, want to go back really soon....We had three big fun days at Blackcomb/Whistler – wish I’d been there at least two days earlier for more sunny days, wish I’d been there when MikeB was there for the cold new snow days early last week – what was it like Mike? Oh well, we had fun and better than expected conditions all three days we skied. Sunday – Blackcomb, sunny to partly cloudy at times, light crowds for Easter Holiday weekend in Canada (they are much more religious up there than in the Republican controlled US of A), great packed pow on all the big shady slopes – multiple Saudans, Pakololo, Secret and much fun in the gladded tree runs we did, finished with a great Saudan to GearJammer to the village. Monday – Whistler, very big sunny, did my hamster runs early morning on Peak chair! Great packed pow and really really big bumps! Love that chair. Holiday for some in Canada but no lift lines to speak of. Spent a lot of time out in Symphony – first time for us out there and it has lots of fun things to do, not as flat as expected, nice trees and some fun steeps, would be great on a big Pow day, finished the day with Peak to Creak and Roundhouse to the Village for our last two runs of the day – very nice and a great way to add big vert for hamster types. Tuesday – back to Blackcomb, a little more grey high overcast, and the snow started out pretty firm off the groomers, but it was very warm, nobody on the mountain at all, lots of big Saudan and Pako runs, plus Arthur and Bark Sandwich, some big bright sun at times, nice soft sticky snow everywhere, finished the day pretty much the same with a big Saudan and eventually GearJammer. Great finish into a buzzing village. Big foods in the lodges from Udon big bowl soup to big Rice bowl on Whistler to great Pizza the last day. Soups – to many to remember, six soups everyday – remember Chick Noodle and White Borscht plus a bunch of other unique soups. Great trip ready to go back soon and I will.
PS – did the Sarah Burke Celebration Tuesday night – very moving and very nice she was and incredible person, Telus starts this weekend and Whistler will close at the end of the party – got to go back for some more Peak hamster runs before the party ends.
