April 7, 2012, Stevens Pass

One of the best weather days of the season in my book, bluebird, light wind, and fresh powder.  First thing, our gang of six used lift assistance to get us close to Lake Susan Jane, then skinned up to ski the Fleur de Lys in 6-8" of soft powder with a little stiff crust at the bottom (so little that I was the only one who found it, unlucky me.)   Then up the Southern Cross to the top of Big Chief Bowl and traversed east to find more soft powder in the trees on north facing slopes just like Monday.  After a powder run on Fluffy Bunny (with a slight detour by me through the top of Glory Bowl) we enjoyed a BBQ in the upper parking lot along with five more of our team.

After lunch we skied south facing well chewed up snow that still was not crunchy but soft.  For our final run we ascended Hollywood and even at 430PM had soft powder skiing off the gap west of it on north facing slopes.   What a great Easter gift, and in tomorrow's Easter egg hunt at Stevens some lucky soul will get the gift of a free seasons pass for 2012-13.

I skied in-bounds in the morning with a cousin from Maine -- made quite an impression on him first time skiing in the west. Afternoon runs with the rest of the group were a heck of lot of fun.

Saw y'all in the parking lot having your BBQ - looked like a fun time.

Headed-out with two friends and despite a late start got great runs in all the usual places - off cowboy ridge, rooster comb, trees between polaris and highlands bowls, wenatchee bowl and grace lakes. Not bad for 4.5 hours of work...
