Crystal - 04/05

Big day, big foggy early, big hard to see groomers early, not big crowd, nice sized not big pay lot, nice almost sun breaks and broken clouds as the day progressed, big PB/BP runs when the vis was good (most of the day), also nice in the Valley, heard it was big out North again today, really big standing on top of the King again today, Braindamage very nice again, really really big “Chicken Noodle” soup in the CB lodge! Very very good and well worth the short break to enjoy it (once early and once late – ouch). Not so nice on the sun facing slopes since there just was not enough sun or heat to soften up the snow again today. Fun day – only one more lift served Thursday left. A parking lot pretty full, C had cars. So few folks around managed to get a solo bucket ride today.

A discouraging fog and lack of vis had us worried early. Once we headed north, however, the fun began. The east half of Northway was clear, and north-facing aspects still held excellent soft snow and even some nice untracked. (South-facing slopes were pretty much crap everywhere we went.) Bruce's Nose and Paradise Bowl kept us busy all morning. As the fog broke, we headed back for C-6. Campbell east was good, but Powder Bowl was the best – when you could see. Back to Northway later, and Paradise Chutes held the snow of the day – we repeated till the end. North-facing aspects will be good tomorrow before everything gets baked saturday with maybe some actual spring skiing.
