Crystal seemed to have lots of new snow, but also considerable breeze, so we decided to take a chance on Alpental not getting too warm for good skiing. Of course we left Seattle just late enough to be stopped by avalanche control at MP47. During the hour of waiting we considered that we could have reached Crystal sooner, and we enjoyed learning more about our smartphones.

Fortunately when the road opened we were near the front of the traffic jam, so we began skiing around 10AM with a very small group of Alpental regulars. Fresh tracks could be found every run until we departed around 230PM and after noon Elevator gate opened. My favorite line of the day was Shot Six, 12-16" soft powder to start, slightly heavier below the cat track. It snowed heavily all day, never rained even at the base.

Never rained, but it's been a long time since I've wrung so much water out of my gloves. Was skiing untracked on both upper and lower lift until the closing bell. Gotta love how modern skis handle the heavy powder.
