Mentally challenging start today, Spouse #1 wanted to go, Crystal early morning report indicated big winds and lots of indecision about what might be open today…Oh well. Pulled into the A lot and noticed that the Gondy buckets were getting hung back on the cable – good sign, rode up REX before 9am and noticed lots of wind effect across the front side, but it might be good in protected areas? Not! At least not the first couple of runs till the Coombas finally got wired into the snow conditions – heavy, lumpy in places, wind packed in others. But as the legs and brain and skis got used to it, everything kept getting better. It was heavy everywhere I was, but fat skis made it fun. Bearpits and Lucky Trees had nice untracked lines and improved as the wind and snow filled in and re-smoothed everything out. Had a couple of good runs with Jodie the lift opp – she is a really good skier, even on her skinny skis. Was snowing hard in the afternoon and the wind was screaming, which made the surface quality better – was surprised that the lifts kept running. The mountain was pretty empty, A lot was full but that was about it – no cattle car shuttles today. Gondy shut down for a couple of hours mid day but was running when we left. Snow pack is getting really really deep, so it will be kinda sad when we have to go to the spring schedule do to lack of snow sliders. Soups today – Vegetable Beef Barley and Loaded Potato (heard there might be some Chicken Noodle on Friday!). Had a nice Alfredo sauce vegy pizza – actually pretty good. Better than expected day as usual.
