Feb 23, 2012 -- Alpental

NWAC telemetry showed 12 inches overnight, Arrived in lot 3 around 8:20 -- was in line around 8:35 with about 50 people in front of me. Saw Stimbuck load on the quad while waiting and heard several very loud blasts followed by rumbles after that. Armstrong started loading around 9:10 -- snow quality was good above Sessel top station, but quickly got lumpy below that elevation. Chair two started loading around 10 Both Edlewiess bowl and Nash were somewhat crummy combinations of bed surface and debris -- managed to get a few bits of soft along the edges. After around 11:30 the line of chair 2 was just a couple people. Shot 6 had the deepest fluff of the day. Kept finding pockets of goodness in Breakover trees,

It was good to see you Randy, it's been a while... fun day out. The first few descents were incredible before things got cut up and you had to actually look for the untracked lines .

2 first chairs, followed by some lucky timing at gate/ rope drops for Nash, SD and Elevator.
More untracked then you could shake a stick at with some surprise appearances by the sun.
Short lines to ski-ight-on, at C2 made for an excellent afternoon.

Today was terrible. I really think everyone should just stay away from Alpental under those types of conditions Took the morning off of work to get some in early. Seemed to be the sentiment among most of the people I rode the lift with. Lot's of people playing hooky and heading back into the city at lunch time.

this was what made the late elevator opening all the more incredible!  Top 3 if not tippy top Alpental day for me this season.
