Little & Big Cotton Wood Canyon rpt 02/12 - 02/18 was created by ddk
Got pretty lucky on this trip based on the sad conditions in most of North A. Fair dump of new over a few days early made for great conditions – I’m sure the locals would have preferred last year, but they seemed pretty jazzed about most anything new this season…and gotta say as my head and lungs got into skiing at 9 to 11k the week got better all the time. Found my fav treadmill runs around Alta and Snowbird. North facing slopes as usual were the best, went from nice pow covered smooth to nice smooth chalk – I beat my self yesterday at Alta. Did some big things for me, would have liked to do a few others, saw big perfect pow turns coming off the top of peaks three times the size of the King, heli’s flying all over the place – ouch. Brighton was sloppy three day old left overs when we did it, but they where still pretty nice left overs and for me they were free. Brighton has some great tree runs. Coverage was thin everywhere by normal standards, but the Coombas only took one bad ding – its already fixed. Weather was stormy early and you had to try to find your way around conditions, but as the weather cleared and repeat days we found our treadmill runs. Expected lift lines, but never really saw any where we were. Go if you can.

You failed to mention how full the parking lots were and how far back the paid park was and what soups they were serving and what shoes the lift ops' were wearing.

We rode the Sunnyside lift fourth chair on Friday the seventeenth with a solo skier from Crystal. He was going on and on about Powder Mountain and how he had an indefinite time in Utah since he was retired and on the "road" as a ski bum. Sounded good to us. We told him our home hill is Mission Ridge and he said his crew was at Mission this coming weekend (last weekend). I figured these are the folks that ski with pennants on their ski poles. I asked him about it and he confirmed this and regretted not having his pennants with him.
More power you ddk and keep posting your reports.
Where can I get some pennants?

Yeah, you guys wouldn't like Powder Mountain. Nothing to see here, move along now
