Some of the north facers have skied out enough to break up the frozen crunch and be quite nice – Horseshoe Cliffs, Northway Chute, Valley Bowl. Some were adventure skiing at best – Grubstake Chutes. Even with no wind, it took awhile to thaw out the sunny slopes and then, only the skied out areas were good. Showtime (Rex Chairline) to Greg's Gulch were the best, and GG the only run soft enough not to ski off to the hard layer underneath. Bear Pits was the sucking-the-most run today. Spent the day north till it warmed and then skied Frontside till it started to crunch as the clouds moved in at 1:00. ddk will provide the report from the Powder Bowl Wheel, as we didn't make it that far south. Groomers stayed firm but with enough shaved ice to provide something to push around.

Weeeelllll….the rest of the story – for 02/05/2012 – the day I skied at Crystal Mountain glad I wasn’t around on 1012. Yes I jumped right onto to PB treadmill first thing – nice packed careable snow up top skiers right of the main line run, into styro smooth perfect fun drops and as long as you stayed right the lower 1/3 was still nice enough to make some decent turns, I also managed to ski my fav line in BP’s during its prime sunny impact time, just soft enough with no one around to muck it up. Did take a while for the frontside of REX to go off, but it was good while it lasted. Skied the wide open face that Mr Ferk has led me into more than once this season – just to the right of the Doors in the open bowl before Windy Pass, had fun on Showtime during its prime, SunnySide and Memorial very skiable (even on the skinny Crossfires), and as far North as I went today the left shoulder of IceFerkBerg – very nice mushy muck. Probably the best quality packed something like cold snow was GreenValley bowl – could have done that a bunch more. Groomers off REX early were very nice, crowds early were tolerable – but the lines were the reason I did the PB treadmill today. High overcast kinda screwed the slush cup melt today. Saw lots of friends today, but never for very long? Ready for a casual empty mountain ski tomorrow. Parking lots seemed to be full down at least E lot way, never checked out the soup of the day. Got to ski with my baseball gear today – yee haa. So CD Its a Monday tomorrow.
