Pretty nice day all things considered – slow drive from the lowlands, big winds on top (and down lower when I left), very cold and getting colder as the day progressed, slow lifts due to the high ridge top winds, sadly no HC, but I noticed that NW opened and was still open when REX and the Bucket went on wind hold mid afternoon. Gooder parts about today - lots more new snow than expected, light crowd on the lifts and slopes, lots of early untracked deep snow lines, improving conditions all day with very heavy afternoon snowfall filling in early morning runs, skiing some lines outside my hamster area – cant say where under peanlity of ???. Last runs today were pretty impressive, good snow, but huge winds – I’ve never seen winds blow through Windy Pass like today, sounded like a train. Big peanlity was the slow traffic, got stuck behind a guy driving 35 all the way to Greenwater – praise the lord he pulled over finally. Pay lot was pretty typical and way to big as usual, B had a fair number of cars and C was fairly full. ddk

Awesome snow and weather today. Weather in the sense that standing, Goretex and high tech underwear protected, as mother nature dumps snow and blasts your face with freezing snow is cool kinda way. 18-24 inches of new in the lee of the wind and behind trees, voted my best snow of the year. The Frontside areas were great, but Exterminator, especially the top, and Left Angle won the day (I-5 fast and easy). Headed toward the new Employee Housing avalanche run but we couldn't see (and my face couldn't stand) the 60mph blast to get there. Had to stop many times to let the wind have it's way as visibility dropped to zero and it was hard to keep standing. Early, you could feel some ice under the new on the steeper pitches. By noon, nothing but deepness. Can't imagine there'll be anything bad by tomorrow if the wind calms down and let's the chairs run. We left as the Gondy shut down and 80mph gust attacked Rex.

9:30pm in B-lot. Still puking nice light flakes. Epic day. It was all very tasty, not a bad run on the hill. Well worth the SeaTac at 7:40pm, get to B at 11:30 and set up. When I left Palm Desert it was 75 and sun. From one extreme to one even nicer. Spent over an hour scooping out the campsite when I came in this afternoon. New place name for employee housing crafted by Wendy Barry: "2011" Maybe it will stick. Rumor has it some folks in mgmt at the mtn might be reading TAY every now and then and have mentioned a special Chair 6 only pass. Might involve some skinning to get up, but is reserved for the truly dedicated. Kinda like the Whistler backcountry deal. Beacons and pow straps tomorrow. Ski with TWO buddies, one to stay and one to go for assistance. I would anticipate a day of leapfrog as different aspects open up.
