December 23, Crystal Mountain

Worst snow of the year, a great day with the ski buds. Every day gets icier and rockier, but a day in the mountains, some filtered sun, and friends – not so bad. Great grooming today made for some screaming fast groomer fun early. It lasted longer than expected as freezing rain and black ice delayed most participants till after 10:30. Heard there were 50 cars in the ditch between Mud Mountain Dam and Greenwater. The grooming wore down to no-turn ice by mid day. Off piste, Green Valley Bowl lasted the day, but even Powder Bowl has not much left that's not very firm, ice, or rocks. Conditions didn't support much more off-the-groomer exploration. My return requires more snow, but, looks like that's what is in our christmas stocking.
