Crystal - 11/23

A little of everything today – rain at the base at 8:30, ice skating quality parking lot, rain changed to snow by 9am (though pretty wet), lifts finally loading at 9:20 (lots of bombs going off all morning all over the upper mountain), stuck on FQex till around 11 when the Gondy opened up (with a number of buckets hanging at the bottom unattached), very deep heavy snow in the Valley – nice for the first folks through it and those with wide planks or boards, not so nice after it was cut up, no groomers on the upper mountain, it was snowing hard pretty much all day and it was definitely starting to build up by the time I bailed at 1:30, the rain wetted snow line was around 6k, snow pack it set now, definitely a lot of new base layer building snow high up, down around the base was pretty ugly looking, The Coombas got there first time on snow and I was happy to be on them. Should be getting better till the next big warm up later this weekend. Only A was sort of full, some cars in B (mostly employees) ddk

No such thing as bad snow, only bad skiers... and I was a bad skier today.... $4.00 for two coffees. $45.00 tank of gas, skiing with your son, Priceless. Peter dove into GV like it was groomed cords, I followed at the same speed, until I sank the Darkside too deep and I felt the crust and pow and a layer that was different. I slowed it down to safe skiing mode. The snow was good, I was not. Following the kids(32) for a few laps was all I could risk, we bailed down LS. Good work from Paul and the Pro's getting it done in those conditions. Funny seeing them post Avi standing there, as if to say "have at it, it's all good." should be better by Friday, No such thing as bad snow............
