June 25-26, 2011 - Crystal Mt - Green Valley

6/25/11 – Hit up Crystal for a great morning of sliding in Green Valley. Loaded the gondy at 0840 and found the early snow out on Huckleberry still a touch on the firm side, but GV itself was nice and creamy. By 930 everything had softened up nicely with it just start to get sticky here and there near the bottom after 11. Overcast and breezy to start with the clouds starting to break up and rise when we split at 1130 after 9 runs. Open slopes are sluffing and starting to sun-cup, and we’re seeing a touch of pollen and pink algae here and there. A lot was full. Tomorrow’s supposed to be even nicer.

6/26/2011 – Couldn’t ask for a more perfect bluebird day to be spring skiing in Crystal’s Green Valley. Snow condition was the expected firmness in the shadows and early hour (see pic 3969 of Chad “edging” along) while out in the open was still soft butter cream goodness from yesterday. By 10 it was just perfect all over the place. Snorking Elk lake is coming up nice and blue, Lot A was filled again when we split at 12:30 after bops down each ropeline and then eight fun tree routes in between. TomK & Chad

Congrats on what looked to be a great day today based on forecasts and big early to late day sun...(I spent mine being a good person hikin up a road in Taylor forest - nice but not skiing!). I'm very happy that folks are doing the Crystal summer ski - keep it up as long as possible. I gotta go out in the woods next weekend with a big heavy pack on my back and I will enyoy (almost) every minute of it....but I'm hoping for a very big sunny weekend July 9th (if its sunny get ready for another marketing report) - I gotta get a lazy ski day in during July, without driving to Hood (or hiking for my turns). ddk
