Crystal - 06/11 Very nice day

Short marketing report....looked iffy early, but short bucket line in the sun, then frim early morning conditions on the foggy slopes, but the Valley was perfect mucky slush from the start and everything else went sweet pretty fast. Fun day with JD and a few runs with Mr Ferk and the ski patrol. Full on sun at 12:30 when I left the parking lot. A lot full but that was about it for crowds. Snow melting fast now, will not be able to ski to the bottom after tomorrow - cant ski back to the bucket anymore with out walking. Great fun slushy day all across the front of REX - sounds like this will be the very final last weekend for REX. Lookin forward to more tomorrow. ddk

6/12/11 – Sunday at Crystal, High scattered clouds, Hawaiian shirts, Sunshine, Soft snow that started getting sloppy around 11, Can’t ski to the gondola anymore – gotta walk about 50 feet across the grass, Probably last day for REX so we hit the Shots, Did a top to bottom via Skid Road, Played in the trees alongside Sunnyside, and finished up with IceFerks and out past Queens lift to Tinkerbell and underneath Quicksilver to the base.

Today (6/12) was the best spring bump skiing I've had in a long time. My son and his middle school buddies had a great time too. I hope he gets charged up by it like I did as a kid. It's a great way for teenagers to spend a spring weekend.

THANK YOU CRYSTAL reminding us how great lift skiing can be after April!

Probably NOT last day for REX is what I am hearing.

They had moved all the tables out onto the grass for a wedding on the base patio.
The tables were full of thirsty and tired skiers/riders, some without shirts on.

The bride in full regalia walked up to the altar and there was a respectful silence from the tables.
After the vows the bride and groom proceeded to the lodge with all the skiers and riders clapping and cheering.
Quite touching really but I'm not sure I'd like to get married in front of a crowd of tired, smelly ski bums.

Frontside slushy bumps superb, backcountry was nicely consolidated and firm on certain aspects and even some minor sun cupping in the area we skied.

Hhhmmm...since my post has morphed into a all weekend report....REX for another weekend would be nice - next Sunday for Dad's day, I'm not one but I got one to celebrate for. Heard that there are 35 weddings in the queue so far and lots of Crystal dreams of a bunch more. Might be a busy summer. That bucket ride sure has changed the game at Crystal. I have already paid for next seasons pass and had a lot of fun doing it.
