Crystal - 06/04 - Big Day!

Uh Oh!...Incoming Marketing Report! – Really big day that all those folks that just cant quit were waiting for – big sun, perfect early firm smooth snow that progressed to big nice mucky mush fall line dropping skiing (with nice big soft bumps forming! gotta like those). River funnels of snow sliding down REX chair line. All of Southback that I could see has had lumpy snow slides….but inbounds on REX! Heaven hamster conditions – had to pause every once in a while to wait for a chair ( big spaced parking in A lot full, with cars in C and part of B – so it was a pretty good crowd for the accountants at Crystal). Nasty early morning wrap around the whole lodge for the morning bucket ride up (I heard) – but I only did that once – things looked like they mellowed out during the afternoon, there were empty spaces in the A lot when I left. Fun to be had across the front of REX from Windy Pass to M-World and IceFerkberg. Didn’t do GV chair – saving that for when REX finally quits running…based on crowds and lack of Elk – hopefully maybe another weekend for REX. Lots of skin showing today (had to post that for a few other folks I talked to today), gotta love that. Lookin forward to a repeat tomorrow! ddk

Thanks to joedabaker for saving my day with a ski loan after I broke a binding having too much fun.

Great day and very unusual to see more skiers under the chair than on Lucky Shot.

Yep, great day - my daughter's first time @ Crystal. She said "That's the prettiest mountain!"

As a bonus, we got a bucket ride with Joe and met Scotsman with him, and also said hi to Jim up top.

Talked to a lifty and a couple of patrolers, and the word is that REX is still going to be open next weekend. A great day, not as hot as saturday and that kept to snow in better shape for longer. Bump-ups galore is right, that soft stuff created shin-deep waves in a couple of hours.

Somebody who spoke to Customer service today reported that they were planning to stay open until July 15th!!!!
Very nice frontside conditions today.
