What no DDK report ???
Went for a locals late trip up to be on the hill by 11 or so. Lots of cars going down with 3-4 inches on their car tops. Wondered why they would head out so early, it's not Easter, Mothers day or my Birthday?
The clouds hooded the upper reaches of the area so the light was flat. But snowing top to bottom. There was some substantial new snow, like 8 inches or so that had been pretty well tracked in the main areas. But lots left for the local knowledge that was still good skiing with the right technique for the conditions such as skiing as fast as you can to plan the chop. The 203cm conventional boards perversely enjoyed skiing the chopped, foggy Green Valley bowl and handled it with ease. Lots of new on Goo skiing with no tracks was the best stuff.
Lots of slides and had to manage the hill a lot of the time while skiing it. Lucky Shot closed the whole time I was there due to fears that the ghost of the MLK layer would come back to flush on Lucky Shot.
Good, uhmm...High calorie Powder Day!

There were a lot of people struggling with the heavy snow and no grooming and lots of beginners.
I spoke to quite a few in the gondola and a lot where there due to the $25 Groupon deal.

As you say, great fun but definitely had to be aware of the potential for slides on the steep stuff towards Exterminator.

Two great days of skiing... need to rest.
Crystal management and Boyne Resorts..... you guys rock. Props to Kircher and his team.

Nope, that side of the hill is closed-Forest Queen.
I saw him on the deck a couple sunny weekends a go thanking all his customers for their support through the year. He was so friendly that I did not recognize him at first.

He had obviously been through "remedial training "this season as he was far less bombastic and was giving three crackers pretty much to everybody even without the previously necessary code.
I miss the old Stew nazi to be frank.... it kinda added to the fun and I admired his cantankerous ways , gruff demeanor and total contempt for us all. At least he wasn't pretending to be positive and nice all the time....... hate that!
