Had a free ticket to burn at Timberline so decided to head up and catch a bit of sunshine on Friday. Palmer was up and running when I arrived, despite steady (~ 30 mph) winds that did not abate all day. Skied several laps in the morning on Palmer until the off piste snow finally started softening up, then skinned up to around the 9,200 ft level on ZigZag Glacier for a longer run down. The snow on ZigZag still needs some more consolidation but it wasn't half bad and warranted a few more lift-assisted runs. Should be a great summer season on Hood with a 15+ foot snowpack up there.
