Crystal - 05/14

Pretty good day of slush skiing with most of the core group. Soft from the start everywhere – which was very good for easy wide skis. Only tough part was white out conditions on the top 100 ft or so and most of GV bowl. So we bounced around other places from a couple of late morning runs in the Valley and down SnortElk bowl through Kellys Gap and lower E (very nice soft bumps), to a number of runs from IceFerkBerg to REX chair line, I enjoyed most, but some lines better than others. One attempt into the Doors for me did not get a repeat. Heard OuterFerks was soft and very skied out. Lower Ferks/Bull was fun. A couple of runs down REX chair line finished my day – could have done more but we gotta be social this evening. Did a number of bucket rides – the only place with a line, so most of the rides had a extra body or two to many. Great spring skiing today, but it didn’t get cold enough last night to do true spring, but Crystal is a lot closer than Whistler or Hood for lazy skiers like me. Winds were blowing across the top between REX and GV from the east, but that just kept the snow from getting to slow and sticky. No precip while we were there, but looks like something happened late around 2pm. The A parking lot was full, with some cars in C and B (employees?). Gotta say it was a very fun day for all the folks on the slopes. ddk

Awesome effortless spring snow on Ferkberg, Deer Fly and GV bowl when it cleared later. Saw Mr DDK tried to get his attention, but the fanny pack man in blue zipped off from the top before I could flag him. We got a late start shooting for 12,000 vtft, but got 23,000-Scotsman skiing like a champ again. At 2:30 or so we finally got sunshine.... and simultaneous rain that didn't last long, but coated a layer of water on the gear. Biblically dumping rain in Greenwater as I type.
Thanks to Crystal for keeping it open so we can ski some corn!

Great crew today. So much fun!
