Crystal - 04/16

Another fun day, reasonable sized crowd for a late season Saturday. Variable early vis depending on where you were (did I get the right word in the correct place?), but vis improved rapidly. Snow got nice and mushy on the groomers early. Lots of fun. Off piste was entertaining early, but got nice and mushy fly through soft by mid day. Swapped from skinny groomer Crossfires to wimpy easy fat slush/pow Coomba skis (the skies wide skis) mid day…made for lots of afternoon fun. Seemed pretty cold and windy for the Naked skier comp…watched for a while. Met my personal goals for days skied (both many good and some of those bad ones) this season…all bonus till it all ends. Only improvement for tomorrow will be a few more folks to skiier groom those slopes. Thanks to the D’s and Z’s and number one spouse for another great marketing kinda day. ddk

An excellent day, my end of the "winter season" day.  Great soft groomers, unconsolidated off-piste that will improve with some freeze/thaw cycles and skier grooming.  Riding up the Gondola with a plateful of hot bacon, priceless.  Freezing will not be kind to the softened snow if it's not sunny and warm tomorrow.  Watched lots of tracks laid out in Southback, but also a lot of "meandering" lines that I assumed were looking for less slop.  Other than a few Showtime Rex Chairline and Powder Bowl runs, I had to stick to groomers for some consolidated snow.  Although quite different than ddk's goal, met mine as well.  OK, I don't have ski goals other than have fun.  And, More: (not for ddk).

Great end of the "regular" ski area season.  Hoping for some good sunny days, maybe some actual spring snow, in the next weeks.

Ha Ha...as usual...Yes sometimes I do have goals...have fun everyday I ski is the number one goal....
