Big unusual surprising last lift served Wednesday in Washington. Expected grey and a little wet, got a fair amount of sun during the day and continued cool temps, expected light crowds, got less, expected bad snow quality (took the Crossfires for the ice), got great groomers, better snow on the north facing slopes I did today – PB, GV bowl, Snortelk and multiple Throne area runs (still some nice untracked pow just outside the rope line – hopefully it will still be there on Friday). Didn’t expect much new and it was variable in how deep the new was – but it was nice and deep in lots of places. Didn’t expect much slush, but got lots of sweet carving slush turns in IceFerkBerk, Kellys Gap, Lower E – all very nice, Lower Lucky, Gandys, Stumpfarm, and Deer Fly just as good. The biggest unusual part about today – didn’t ride REX till 11:30 – multiple Gondy rides early, then some GV runs and off to HC…funny kinda day. Hard to believe that the winter season is almost over already…dang…four more days, hopefully we get lucky and get some at least dry weekends for the spring/summer season – could be pretty awesome based on the snow pack depth – check the Seattle Times Monday article about the current snowpack averages for the state, pretty big, will be a late backpacking season…ddk
