The kids were on spring break so we headed up to Whistler for some spring skiing. I love to go up to Whistler in April for what is usually great spring/slush skiing. We started with two crystal clear days, but it was far from spring. It was 13F in the alpine the first morning and we found great left over powder all over the upper mtn. Still lots of powder in Blackcomb Glacier and off all the "gem chutes" accessed from Spanky's Ladder. Great soft snow on the bottom, would freeze up at night. But it was cold enough that even with all the sun, the upper snow never really got slushy. Day two was sunny and cold again and we found great snow on Harmony and Symphony.
Whistler is reporting their 3rd snowiest winter on record. They will have coverage (even down low) for quite some time to come. There is so much snow up high that it looks like they ran a cat down under the top of Harmony lift so that people can still ski down the face and not hit chairs.
May have to head back up again later in April or May so I can find some spring corn.
