Crystal - 04/08

Aaahhh…big day, big sun finally, blue skies, big heli bomb on three way, great quality groomers, off piste – PB! – was mighty nice, packed pow north facers, working on slush cup on southern exposures, nobody on the mountain since the season is over and there was only a inch or so new….sweet! Marketing report at full throttle! Been waitin a long time for this kind of day. Was still kinda cool at times, so never made full Hawaii shirt mode – but it was close. Lots of great runs yo-yoing Kkz in PB and OF, plus the front side runs on REX. Ready for more. Need 6 more days out of the last 9 winter season ski days at Crystal to beat a personal goal...ddk

Second ddk's report.  Lots of great runs in the sun moving from yesterday's packed pow to yesterday's ice as it softened in the sun.  The day ended with everything getting way soft and it will not be pleasant when it refreezes.
More:
South and North remained closed but they are trying to get Northway opened tomorrow.  Lots of minor heat sluff slides visible in southback and east peak.  Lots of heli-bombs in Silver Basin (couldn't see them), Rockface, East Peak, and Treeway Peak.  Threeway slid with the largest crown I've seen.  Hard to judge the size from in bounds but a scary shadow line.

Add, A King 5 helicopter was shadowing the ski patrol copter today. I don't see any video yet on their site but if they post the 3-Way slide, will be impressive.

I saw the story on the news but had to cringe at their teaser lead in of "resorting to desperate measures". Extraordinary maybe, but desperate. Come on!
