Wwhhhooooo…Fun day, lots more new than expected, some sun breaks during the day and lots of sun when I left sometime after 2:30. A few crowds at moments…2 minute lines on HC might have been the big one. No lines on REX. CHex still on diesel and running poorly even with that. One big power glitch mid day, but I was lucky to be sitting in a lonely Gondy bucket with nice solar heating and great vis of all the stopped chairs. Chunky lumps could be found in some areas, but with the big wimpy Coomba planks most of the mountain was very nice for me today. Got 6 deep untracked runs on REX through the Doors and Lucky Trees in the first hour this morning. Did a number of PB/OF runs today and got good vis in all of them with much fun on my part. Tried to be lazy during my last couple of runs down Valley/IceFerkBerg and Lucky edges…hhhmmm…snow was getting pretty nasty on those groomer sections. Hope more shows up for tomorrow, before the big sun fest the end of the week. Only one more lift day at Crystal on a Tuesday. ddk

I'd call the snow fun, but a little tough today. Nice light pow early, but a hard bumpy rain crust under the boot-top new. As the morning went on, the snow got heavier and improved the cushioning over the hardpack, but went past that to very thick and heavy. Higher and northfacing were the only survivors of the heat, Powder Bowl the winner as the sun came out and the fog lifted. Southback and Northway closed all day. South looked pristine if it opens. Hopefully tonight's forecast dump revitalizes the heat carnage (nothing compared to the Bear Pits carnage).

Big difference not much more than twenty-five miles south as the crow flies at white pass with no crowds and snow all day on a big dump of knee deep pow on all the wind loaded east aspects with just a little wind effect from circulating gusts of a strong south westerly. It always amazes how different conditions can be over a short span of mileage. still snowing as I write this.

Almost did a trip report on my day at White Pass... Aside from some wind and whack visibility the snow was sweet. Lot's of deep stashes and so very fluffy. Had not been there since they opened the new lifts and aside from the feeder being excruciatingly slow the area has a lot of promise. Can't wait to get down on a day that I can branch out into the goods.
