Hyak - 4/02 was created by davep
Woke up and saw they had 4-5" of new at the Pass and much colder than I was expecting given the warmth of the past few days. Looked like some decent precip heading up I-90, so I asked my early rising boys if they wanted to go powder skiing. With two positive votes, we headed up and got to the Hyak lot at 8:30 where it was just DUMPING. Gear on and over to the lift to wait with 8-10 other people for 9am opening What a great morning of powder skiing we had with very few people around. The snow was very good up top and started to get heavier down low before lunch time. The kids loved the deep snow, plus the steeps trees and rollers (ie. on Blowdown) that Hyak can offer. It was also nice to show them the backside which I hadn't skied via a lift in 20+ years. There are some big open areas that have really opened up at the bottom, I'm assuming from all the rain.
Don't let anyone tell you that 9 and 10 year olds don't have fun skiing "deep powder".
If you're interested you can catch them on video here:
