Ouch, dang it, whats with this weather? Its spring! Not November! Heard some forecasts for something somewhat like Saturday (at least still mostly sunny…I kinda packed stuff for that kind of day), but what we got was most folks saying you should have been here yesterday. (Second hand report for Saturday – No crowds, lots of prime new snow, big sun (did you see the cam pics? I did sadly), the kinda day you really don’t want to be nice to anyone and should not listen to the 48 hour forecasts!!!) Today – looked okay early, Gondy was running though the winds through the parking lot looked kinda nasty, arrived a little late since the ski season is over, but didn’t make the A lot – big race weekend lots of early folks from almost everywhere in the country based on the license plates. Jumped on a somewhat late CHex opening and sadly saw the really bad news with REX on hold…Waited out the day skiing lots of runs – but never Downhill, till after the final 1pm call by the guy in charge for any upper mountain openings…so sad at that point. Winds were big on top of FQex, but lower mountain was pretty mellow. Negatives – Bull was shut down for the race and most of Gold Hills also (no wind over there but felt like I was skiing at Timberline in July with only one slot for the general public. Best runs we did of the day were K2, Frisco/ch 5 line and by far the most pleasant surprise was Boondoggle! Done it more this year than I have done it in the last 10 years, but it was perfect packed pow bumps. Lift lines were somewhat challenging – we ran the singles line and almost always ended up on the same chair. Lookin forward to a mellow wind day tomorrow – I hope. ddk
