Alpental Pow, March 1st

Plinko said he'd never seen such a throng waiting for Chair 1 to open at 8:30. The masses cheered when it finally did around 9:45 and by the time we plopped into a chair the first throngs were coming back down for their second run. Chair 2 opened up around 11 or so.

The Cascade Powder may be a tad overweight, but it is OUR powder.

All in all, great fun.

I've never seen so many people on a weekday and I've skied on and off, sometimes very much on for over 30 years. Having sat in the 5th chair to load up 2 that first run was glorious. Nash was a dream.

What a hitshow that line-up was! Great day though. Never enjoyed a lift line so much, saw old friends and made a couple new ones. As expected, most left mid-day and the lifts were ski-on by 1pm or so. Lots of smiles. Gratefully, we were skiing long untracked lines and getting faceshots within view of the chairlift until the bullwheel stopped turning at 4.

Nightmarish snow conditions for sure!! Worst ever for my PNW lift-served résumé!

Where did everyone go in the afternoon? That place turned into a ghost town after lunch.  Like Aaron said, tons of untracked lines/faceshots all the way till the end.
