Crystal March 1st was created by Scotsman
Snowing heavily all morning. NB opened and it was terrific. SB opened for a very short time but patrol had to close it as slabs were forming faster then they could manage them according to the patroller I spoke to.
Excellent powder skiing all day and we were even getting fresh tracks at 2:30 pm when we called it quits after charging since opening bell.
No lift lines on Rex, gondi, NB or Chair 6.
Heavy snow stopped around lunch time and temps definitely went up and snow getting heavier but still very good.
SB will be off the hook when it opens.
Pretty tracked out in NB so need some new snow for a reset.

Wow, got to say "Crotch deep" more than I remember ever saying.  Didn't make it to 6, but Memorial, Upper Bull Run, Northway, and Left Angle were incredible.  Skied out by the end, and warming to 32 at the base will thicken it up some.  Still snowing heavily and with some cooling tonight, hopefully will freshen it for tomorrow.  Talked to ski patrol that bombed southback yesterday and today.  He said it was no fun hiking out and they'll have to bomb again tomorrow.  They had to close Kelly's Gap and rebomb Rockface midday it was snowing and blowing so hard.  Gondy crew expecting 65mph wind tomorrow and being shut down, so an early morning check might be in order before heading up. More:

If the winds don't shut things down tomorrow, not a bad run on the mountain.

There is an active search at Crystal looking for a skier who did not return to his vehicle after skiing today. His name is Paul Melbey (Pronounced Mel-Bee).
If anyone has any info here on his where abouts or last seeing him please PM me ASAP.
Thanks
Joe

**Edit Parents have filed missing persons report. Search crews searching another location. Hope for the best for them and Paul.
