Skied the Hog Loppett course from Mission Ridge to Blewett Pass, chasing but never catching up to any of the registered participants. I'd parked my car at Blewett and gotten a ride to Mission with lift riding friends. Started skiing about 10:30, met a few volunteers skinning back to the ski area collecting route markers. They were just breaking down the first rest stop when I got there. The next stretch was made interesting when I pulled a binding off a ski. This was easily repaired by filling the screw holes with wooden matches and remounting. Haney Meadow was deserted when I arrived but the bonfire was still blazing and pleasant to rest by. Back at Blewett just before 6. All in all, a great day for an old fart.
Kudos to the largely absent snowmobiling community. I saw maybe a dozen all day and the set tracks were largely intact, dare I say pristine, for most of the route.
