Mixed bag weekend….bunches of new snow (thankfully since there is a hard ice layer even at Whistler – uh Blackcomb didn’t ski the other mountain), 10 new on Saturday – which brought the hoards, and sadly the winds were howling…upper mountain closed…so the lifts left were jammed – don’t think I’ve ever skied in conditions that windy. Haven’t been up to Whistler on a prime season weekend – gotta say those tourist and Canuks put up with some nasty lift lines – but the big mountain skiing makes up for it – especially the gladded tree runs..very nice. Heard that Sundays are usually more mellow but big snow Saturday night again, plus moderating winds and sun breaks brought out some very impressive lines for the upper Blackcomb mountain – people were standing in line for the big upper lifts for a couple of hours – for First Tracks – which made the mid mountain lifts much nicer for us. Snow quality was very nice pow, cut pow, packed pow – with the still present icy spots where some folks keep turning. Got some nice runs on Glacier during the late afternoon today – would have liked to do everything I could see….and heard about from folks on the lifts. ddk
