Feb 12, Powder Mountain was created by Team Wally
Last day in Utah for Team FOGs. Left the Dew Tour at Snow Basin and hit up Powder Mountain for more tasty left overs from Tuesday's storm. Surprisingly light and somewhat cut in the trees, groomers were out of this world as is the norm here. Deal of the week was the $15 cat ride for 2100 vert on Lightning Ridge with option to boot up John Allen for another 1000 feet. I am completely amazed at how affordable skiing and lodging are here. With a little ingenuity I think I could winter in Utah.

We had a great day on Lightning Ridge a day after a powder dump a few years ago. We also joined a Mountain Host for a guided tour of some powder stashes. A great mountain.

I love Powder Mountain. First time I went there was in '96. They were giving free snowmobile tows up a ridge which I can't remember the name of. They were also giving free bus rides back up to the resort, which allowed you to ride the "back" side of their mountain. Do they still offer these goodies?

You bet they still do both, we did the Lightning Ridge cat ride several times and then dropped down Powder Country for the bus ride. Not a whole lot of what I would call real technical terrain but none the less a super fun area. Very cool to ski where there aren't numerous choke points that get scraped off and lots of acreage per skier.
