Crystal 2/9/11 - Poor form out in Silver

Horrible, sickening, traverse tracks out in Silver Basin below Three Way! The first track put in went from just past Box Car under all the Three Way chutes including Three Way Exit Chute. It was so painful to watch this happen from the top of the King! Look at all the untracked snow that was (still is) below these tracks. I just don't get it.

I'm pretty sure there's a band of skiers that go to Crystal to simply traverse all day.  They traverse the face of the King until there are no fresh horizontal bands of snow left to traverse, then they move to Southback.  I believe that their goal is to keep their skis at least 75 degrees from the fall line at all times...if a traverse hits a dead end a kick turn is in order to ensure tips never meet the fall line in a manner that actually resembles skiing.

Sounds like somebody needs their powder fix.

BTW-It's not me, you know... the guy that does not like to cross tracks in the BC.

Just joking around with that reply.  But in all honesty, I've found myself feeling a little grumpy lately due to the powder drought we've all been experiencing for the past several weeks. 

That new snow we received last Tuesday was welcome relief though and made the boilerplate and a few lame traverse tracks a little more tolerable.

I maintain my faith in La Nina 2011.
