Feb 8, Crystal Mountain

Wow, nice to have some new snow.  Although the ice and bumps from the last 2 weeks lurked underneath, once the brain got used to skiing relaxed, the boot top new skied great.  One skier though the new slid the snow off the ice but with a lack of participation today, still skiing untracked at 2:00.  Since it took us many runs to ski it out, mainly stuck to Memorial, Door 4/LS Trees, and Powder Bowl.  Northway disappointed with the under-powder lumps more frozen that elsewhere.  The NW last turn to the chair is terrible.  Trouble with Rex mid day closed it for an hour and we were glad we had Gondola passes.  Found out not to trust the cool new lift open status lights as they take 20-30 minutes to update and never correctly showed Rex's mid-day closed status or the Gondola morning opening status.  In and out fog kept the sun from baking the snow so it still should be good early tomorrow.  More:
