January 23, Crystal Mountain

Gave Crystal at try today.  Our hopes of lasting long enough for the weather to dry up didn't work out.  A drizzly rain from bottom to top, pea soup fog, and off piste being frozen glop made for tough conditions.  The snow on groomers Iceberg and Luckyshot was actually OK but between goggles being covered in rain/fog instantly and snow being nearly invisible in the fog, any fun was cancelled. We lasted an hour and with no sign of the fog lifting, we bailed. Although I was dry on the inside, a dripping mess on the outside.

Umm . . . this is clearly not the kind of marketing report that Crystal is looking for.

Crystal's marketing was working wonders today. 5am report, clear (cloudy and rain the whole drive up), 7:30 update, Broken overcast (we're in the parking lot watching it rain). Lodges were packed full of kid racers and ski schoolers. Largest line I've seen waiting for the Gondola (10 minutes?) when we left. The parking lots would have been fuller if the late arrivers didn't have all the open spots from the early leavers to park up close.

Need a ddk effort to pump up some enthusiasm for tomorrow however.
