....bulletproof.... The views were nice on a mostly bluebird day. There was some softening due to good sun in the edelwiess bowl in the afternoon. I took 1 run then went to the ski shop to borrow their file to put a razor sharp edge on my hardpack skis, then went back out. It helped a bit on the ice, but also made the chance of catching an edge elsewhere more likely so I skied cautiously.
Near the end of the day, I tried to attack a not too steep, icey bump line to see if I could make up for the lack of edge hold with some aggressive skiing. The answer is NO. I roared over a few bumps, somewhat in control, until my skis actually bounced off the "snow", leading to a short hell-ride until I could pull out a hockey stop.
It was nice being out, but the skiing was east coast boilerplate. Maybe I am spoiled now. We either need a thaw to give us some mid season corn conditions or a good hit of snow to freshen things up....
