Having persuaded my wife that skiing in the rain would be fun, upon arrival at the resort she stubbornly refused to boot up in the lashing rain. Citing the fact that because she had a uterus and was therefore more intelligent, she declared she was going to the Bulwheel to watch her beloved Bears beat the Seahawks and I was on my own.
Couple of runs on Lucky shot with not a single other skier in view and then they closed REX. I diverted to Forest Queen and was lapping Downhill , again virtually alone when I was told by the wife that I had to come down because 410 was closing due to flooding at Federation Forest.
Despite arguing that this was the PNW equivalent of an ALTA interlodge and that we should allow ourselves to become trapped and party down in the ELK and ski on Monday , I was ordered to return to base.
The flooding scare appears to have been overstated and I am pissed I missed the rest of the afternoon skiing.
The rain corn has gone and the snow is so saturated I think the correct term is "snice" but it was perfectly skiable and gritty feeling.

Remind you of Cairngorm??
Could have been worse as Crystals 1.9" since yesterday is minor compared to the Snoqualmie's 7". I used to work on a fishing boat in Scotland and the oilskins we wore were impervious, wish I still had a pair for these days!

Yes it did. I explained to my wife that today was what basically the whole winter was like in the North of Scotland and that you either got out and dealt with it head on or drank yourself into a stupor.
Sitting and clinging on the chairlift today I felt like my nemesis and countryman John Muir clinging to his pine tree, reveling in nature's glorious wrath.
