We spent the evening in the camper at the White Salmon parking lot with temps in the teens. Tuesday began sunny and brisk with light winds. The area was deserted. It was a day of cruising packed powder runs in the sun. We haven’t skied Baker on a sunny day and had forgotten the extensive touring terrain that surrounds the ski area. It actually appeared that skiers outnumbered boarders during our visit. The backcountry gates at the top of Chair 8 were open, but as the clouds moved in and the light went flat there were few kicking steps up the ridge. With the expected storm, it would have been great to spend another day, but we had commitments back home.
