Ouch! Hadnt planned on any more reports, since some folks think I’m working for the marketing department (or should be), but….Headed up this morning expecting the worst – wet precip day (lots of glove changes), icy conditions with only the groomers being doable…but…sadly for those that did not go today I was very wrong! Drove into the A lot at 8:15 to high broken overcast, with a few sun breaks trying to shine through. Jumped into a Gondy bucket at 8:50 (same time REX started loading). Noticed that the Valley looked like a dusting over lots of lumps left over from yesterday – hhhmmm – found out a little later that the lumps were just soft puff balls and that the Valley was very nice packed carvable snow. Same with Bearpits. But the bad snow zone was probably 100 ft or so above the bottom of REX ( Gandy – would have given Kkz some fond memory’s ). Noticed around 10am that the signage at the bottom of REX indicated that High Campbell was open – double ouch. PB was smooth and soft enough for a couple of quick laps, ending with nice BP lines. Most of the snow was soft enough early, especially with all the sun – IceFerkberg was a slush fest – but it was starting to set up around 12:30 as the clouds and fog started to flow in and snow (somewhat wet) started to fall. Bailed at 1pm with the required CD minimum vert. The new snow helped cover some more of the rocks. Everything felt pretty wet/soft around noon and will be pretty nasty after the freeze…hope it snows a bunch or the groomers are really smooth, or none of my friends go tomorrow…otherwise its Sunday at the latest. ddk
