Even a third of a foot of new overnight didn't help.

12/29/10 – Decided to try Silver Fir after hearing about 3-4 inches of new snow up there. Found 4-5 of fresh light and fluffy, but that was on top of a heinous inch thick ice crust. Still, we got some knee-tap firsties along upper Outback before it got tracked up. Dipped into the trees for a few turns, but it really was not worth it since below the ice crust was another 15 inches of snow before the pole push bottomed out. TomK & Kerry

Summit Snow-phone propaganda called this "Variable Conditions"

Variable Conditions - Conditions ranging from miserable to unskiable.

Note to self - stay home and get things done around the house when "variable conditions" are reported.

I was not up yesterday, but heard from guys on the lift it was nasty.

Pretty good today. Cold and 3-4 inches of light fresh on the groomed skied nice and smooth and another 2-4 inches fell this am. Up top there was closer to 10 inches I bet (plus the 17 from the last two days.) Nash was deep and soft top to bottom--crust broke up immediately and the skiing got better and better up there as the day went on!

Nice, the people I heard from that left Alpy for West\Central today were all before 1pm. Glad to hear that crust is getting buried and busted up.
